A question at the table

Where did this Fish come from?

A name on a menu is the beginning of a story.

Sustainable seafood depends on how populations, habitats and production are managed. Both wild fisheries and aquaculture can be part of that work.

Useful questions include the species, place of origin and method of catching or farming. Fishery assessments and management information add context that a broad label cannot supply.

NOAA’s seafood profiles offer a route into specific US marine fisheries and farmed species. They are not a complete directory of all freshwater fish or seafood worldwide.

THE CONNECTION
